Same problem here on a fixed Pc Dell Vostro 200, audio Intel. The
"shutting down alsa" takes several minutes before halt the pc. At th
startup instead, some times alsa won't start.

I stay on Ubuntu 7.10 now wiht OpenOffice 2.3 and the problem there
isn't. The Ubuntu Hardy is installed on another PC and the problem
there isn't also on this. I think that was a problem of KDE 3.5.8 so
i've installed "ubuntu-desktop" and the problem solve.

openoffice calc 2.3 on kubuntu 7.10. When click one of this buttons then
konqueror open whit a blank page.
