tried to remove vlc with these commands:
rm -rf /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libvlccore.so.9.0.0
apt-get --purge --yes remove '*vlc*'
also removed the videolan ppa videolan.

When Nautilus load files and folders in a directory it shows a loading
bar with a X button to cancel the job, but it's impossible to click it.

ubuntu-vm-installer.
When I run the resulting vm using kvm I have the same issue.

thanks for the fix but this created another little problem, now update
manager is asking me to update to the latest versionI(same number) and
no matter what I do in synaptic (force or lock version) it still insists
on updating or simply reinstalls the old version

I was using gutsy rc and now adept want to upgrade it. But when i try to
upgrade adept tells me that the system is up-to-date and stops the
upgrade
