[Bug 922725] [NEW] When adding an Entry, anytime the Del key is used it output a . (period)

Public bug reported: Anytime I add and modify text in an entry and have to use the Del key, instead it just removing the character, it replaces it with a period. Backspace works fine though. Anyone else seeing this? I've been seeing this behaviour for a couple releases now. Running currently 2.17
