tried to install halevt package but it failed to configure so I uninstalled it.
So I thought seems that some of it is still in my system
as it generated this crash report when I booted my computer today.

I have this issue also, doesn't seem to affect the function of my wireless
network but repeats the whole time the computer is running.
I am running Lucid but I noticed it when I had Karmic also. My wireless card is
Atheros. Kernel is 2.6.32.22

It seems you could be right about nvidia I reckon it is the nouveau
driver. I decided to purge all nvidia drivers, blacklisted nouveau and
installed the latest nvidia driver from nvidia. So far no problem,
Xorg.0.log is good as is kernel log.
However system log is showing:

The computer did not actually "hang", it merely would not load the GUI. I have
my system setup to boot with automatic logon which has been fine until now.
I punched in my user name & password then sudo reboot after which the system
booted up fine.
