I have just done a fresh install of 18.04. It would not boot until I
added 'nouveau.modeset=0' to the grub command line (as was the case with
17.10).
At first, using the nouveau driver, everything was broken. No ubuntu
session, no ubuntu on wayland session.
I think I managed to log in to the wayl

Confirmed. Capslock works but no led lit when engaged. It looks like
this is a Macbook problem as my Acer and Toshiba laptops don't exhibit
this problem

The new driver has helped some, but the problem remains. Moving the
pointer from the extreme right to left edge of the screen, the pointer
will smoothly move about two thirds of that distance and then
freeze/stutter, and then require me to lift my finger off the trackpad
before allowing the pointer
Same for me. I was using Gaim yesterday in KDE and suddenly I realized Gaim was
not running any more. No error message has appeared.
Today, in a new session in Gnome, it told me to report the bug.
