The same problem can happen even when I try to open the printers window.

Hello Christopher,
I ran that command but Skype and some wine libraries aren't working
anymore. It seems to me that may be I lost support for 32 bits
applications. But I don't know how to active it again.
If I can restore it, I'll test for some days and report back here.

Hi Christopher,
I'm sorry but I really dont't understand complety the page you linked
me.
Could you tell me if this is correct : I upgraded to 3.8 mainline kernel
so to improve the hardware support I must use this command line : "sudo
apt-get install --install-recommends linux-generic-lts-raring
Well,
Bios update did not improve the behaviour.
But I finally upgrade kernels to 3.8 (after a complete backup) and no
more freeze since this upgrade (http://askubuntu.com/questions/119080
/how-to-update-kernel-to-the-latest-mainline-version-without-any-distro-
upgrade/142000#142000).
So for me
Partial upgrade really degrades the stability. Total freeze at least
once or twice a day.
Kern.log attached bug occurs around 10h43 (because keybord manipulations
don't work during freeze).

Since partial upgrade, bug seems to occur more frequently. Again at
9h57-9h58, kern.log attached (compressed).

Hello,
The freeze occurs around 10h40 - 10h45. Here is the /var/log/kern.log
(kern.log.0) doesn't exist.
Hope this is going to be helpful. Update me if possible.

Well, I'm usig this PC for professionnal work. I'm not comfortable in
testing a new kernel, unless you tell me that this will have no major
impact.

Public bug reported:
Hello,
It's been some months, I'm experiencing complete freeze with my Ubuntu PC :
mouse, keyboard are not responding, the fan accelerates to the max.
It seems to me that it occurs randomly. Not exactly though because it
never freezes when the screen is locked !
