This is fixed in 13.10. You should backport the 13.10 libmongodb-perl
package to 12.04

This resolved itself for me when I did a total reinstall of Xubuntu 9.10
on a clean HD recently.
I should note that it did not resolve itself before and your previous

the vast majority of stuff on a vfat drive -particularly a usb/flash
removable one - is not executable. Having the X bit set for this data is
basically wrong and leads to problems when (for example) doing a restore
of data previously copied to the drive for backup as all the restored

sudo rmmod parport_pc retusn an error about "Module in use"
commening it out from /etc/modules and rebooting and then doing the two
terminal thing provides the following output

parport_pc is the fix for me.
sudo modprobe parport_pc got it working
adding parport_pc to /etc/modules has resulted in it working across resets.
There may be a bug with HPLIPS not properly finding the printer - it
keeps on reporting "Device Communication Error" - but it prints fine...

previous version (7.10) it was able to detect and print on a HP laserjet
1100 connected to its parallel port. Under jaunty for some reason the
printer isn't being found
