I have Dolphin set to show previews for local image files of size < 50MiB
this works just great for regular files (JPEG, PNG, TIFF, etc...) but fails for

Same issue here on a freshly upgraded system, from Karmic to Lucid.
I'm attaching a backtrace generated with gdb as suggested.
