I've the same problem under Lubuntu Quantal, that's a recent regression,
when selecting some text and scrolling at some point the selection
vanishes and you have only the cursor that moves but no more selection.
Selecting text with the keyboard using arrow keys always works but with

I'm having the same problem, then I ran
$ gnome-power-manager --verbose
Which gave the output:
