color set to be from the wallpaper, it doesn't switch back when
switching between activities.

folder can appear above other icons in the panel and can't be removed

When I tried to add the weather bicolor widget to the taskbar, it doesn't
appear.
When restarting the PC, the taskbar doesn't show up anymore, though it is still
loaded (visible in the panel management window).

I have added a system tray panel to overlap the main panel on the bottom right.
It it hidden until going with the mouse to that spot and shows only when
setting it there until logging in again, which is also not the goal of it but
another problem than the one reported here.

When placing a spacer at the most end of a taskbar not taking the full
space and setting the spacer to flexible width, it goes back and forth
from min. length to 0 (I guess).

Have been able to recreate my desktop by deleting the desktop layout file
(~/.config/plasma-org.kde.plasma.desktop-appletsrc).
Attached the not working layout above.
Though still my network lamp is blinking which is really weird.

Found another command to recreate a plasma desktop via the console, so this is
the output for a fully working desktop:
(I am guessing, there may be a widget making the original desktop not
loadable?..)
filex@filex-ThinkPad-T530:~$ sudo plasmashell --replace
[sudo] password for filex
esn't help
- Repairing packages or trying to update doesn't help
- Still able to run terminal or apps
- My computer uses it's fan pretty much until I kill plasmashell
I also found these commands online and tried them, this is the output:

I can confirm Mary's result with the new kernel.
The touchpad is recognized as AlpsPS/2 GlidePoint
i can use gsynaptics now - but changing preferences don't affect the touchpad's
behavior.

Chase, I hope you can have a look at this issue as you did with bug
505474. The Toshiba U500 series is quite popular and the bug renders the
touchpad nearly unusable. The problem is that without having it
recognized as a touchpad, one cannot set the turn-off feature when
typing (e.g. via gsynaptics
