I am running Ubuntu-Server 14.04.5 LTS in a HyperV-VM with the Xenial
HWE-Stack enabled. Until the kernel 4.4.0-112 everything ran smoothly,
but with the kernel update to 4.4.0-116 the system cannot be launched
and stops during the boot with the following error mess

thanks again for your effort. In the meantime I tried to install the
Precise apparmor package with --force but it fails with an dependency
problem of dpkg...

I already tried to build the precise package for lucid, but the build fails
with following error message and I have no idea what it means. :D

Thanks for the fast reply. I expected such a decision. Concerning the
fix suggested: Installation of the apparmor package from Precise on
Lucid is due to missing dependencies (libc6 >=2.14) not possible.

>From my point of view the bug is fixed with the latest kernel included
in lucid-proposed. I did a short test as described in the first post.
Also I could build an package in a local chroot environment which
previously failed to build due to the error.

For me it seems to be a more general problem independent from alacarte
because I created the desktop entry only with nano in the terminal.

Same behaviour with Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.
A desktop file in /usr/share/applications was created and following the menu
appears. After system reboot the menu disappears. Open and save the file let
the menu entry appears again until the next reboot and so on.

Hi Tom,
because it is fixed on natty, the newest Ubuntu development version
which is actual not released, the status can be changed to "Fix
released"? Sorry , but about this I'm a little bit confused..
