I found that I can connect using security "TLS" or "RDP" without having
to confirm the certificate every time.
This bug only affects connections configured with security "Negotiate"
or "NLA".

Forgot to say that this problem is happening since I updated the PC to
11.04 and is still happening now that it has 12.04

Same problem for me. Also my laptop is fine but the PC has this bug.
Using alt-tab to select update manager doesn't open the window either.
Even reinstalling update-manager didn't help. I used this procedure to
uninstall:
1.- sudo apt-get remove update-manager
2.- sudo rm -r /etc/update-manager
I also got the same connection drop problem with Lucid and WPA2(TKIP).
Switching to WPA2(AES) or disabling authentication in the wireless
access point solved the issue.
Client is an Acer notebook with PRO/Wireless 3945ABG interface. Tried with
kernel 2.6.31-22-generic and 2.6.32-23-generic
