During the distribution upgrade, my network connections quit working,
and flashplayer would not install. This caused the upgrade to bomb
badly so that currently my mouse does not work (trackpad).

I run apt-get update && apt-get upgrade automatically. I sat down at
the server and saw the error indicator showing this problem. After
doing updates last time, I went in and uninstalled old versions of
kernels, modules, and headers, making sure to keep the currently running

I've been having the same issue on my Dell laptop (XPS M1710) and now
Dell desktop (Dimension 537 quad core). I don't know if it's happening
on my ancient HP Pavillion 523n, but don't think so. It's using the
previous version of Ubuntu server. My other machines use Ubuntu Karmic
x64 desktop.

TYVM for the manual removal instructions. I downloaded the .tgz and
added the fonts manually, but couldn't figure out how to remove the
half-installed package.
