What I did was go to keybord options ; revert to default, only english shows up
there. Then add french. And voilĂ , french layout.

The problem i see there there is is that we're told "here is a workaroud",
rather than "we're working on a fix for for that, in the meantime, you can use
this as a workaround."

the expected-to-work-out-of-the-box things.

won't go either.
Works a charm with ubuntu, or switching the network to non-hidden ssid.
