Situation:
Fresh installed 10.04
Trying to connect to a PDC Samba 2.x gives me exactly the shown bug.
I can browse the shares but when trying to connect there is no password dialog,
just the shown error message.
But connection to another Samba Server 3.x works well - th
Is there any chance of a backport to Intrepid?
IMHO a backport to Hardy should also be considered
because this bug is problematic in networking environments.
Lets say in environments where LTS versions are preferred.

I had this strange behaviour too.
On a MB (GA/nforce560) I used a Seagate 7200.11 (SATA) and a fresh install of
Ubuntu 8.10.
I noticed a HDD activity every 4-5 sec, which was very annoying.
Because of the Firmware bug of the Harddisc I decided to replace the HDD with
another one.

I have the same problem here.
The samba server remains the same.
I have only one machine upgraded from gutsy to hardy and it
happens that documents edited on this machine will be corrupt
afterwards.
Any workarounds?

I have an Epson D120 Printer using their binary driver from avasys.jp.
I can print a testpage, can print from OpenOffice.org and from KDE apps.
The printer does not print from evince, gthumbs, etc
(obviously a problem in apps using gtkprint/gnomeprint)

The Gnome Print-UI has more problems up to now, as OOo.
So for example in my case, (Epson D120) I can print from Openoffice, KDE,
Testpage, etc.
... but not from Gnome-Print. Evince, gthumb, etc..
Check for bugs in Gnome-print and you will see that forcing it into a working
