This is still present in Precise 12.04. When the software sources change
the package list is not automatically updated. Morever Ubuntu Software
Center provides no method to manually update the package list.
A work around is to close Ubuntu Software Center, open update manage and

off state across restarts at least judging by the indicator remaining
grayed out (I don't know if this means it is really turned off).

This issue has resurfaced for me in Lucid Lynx. The sound icon is back
in the system tray (also a keyboard layout icon both of) which I want
removed. There is no longer a gnome-volume-control-applet in
system->preferences->startup applications to remove the sound icon with.

editor icon is hidden by default system->prefferences seems to be the

users who wanted it could just check the show box in alacart menu editor

Cool I can confirm that Alessio. I just opened totem (with no video) and
Pidgin sounds were fine. After I closed totem, however, pidgin sounds are
just crackles. I then opened and closed totem again and the sounds are back
to normal. Very interesting.

Same here I only have message received sounds enabled they work
sometimes but I only hear crackling other times. It appears to be a bug
in pidgin not ubuntu should it be reported upstream?

I had a theory that this might be related to uxe with my graphics card
but I have discovered that uxe is not enabled in jaunty plus you have a
different card Musashi. I just ran compiz in a terminal and immediately
started having the same symptoms. Ive saved the terminal output and
attached it here

I think I am experiencing the same thing. In a 64bit jaunty
installation. I cannot move any windows they all open and stay in the
top left corner. Alt + tab does not work. All the borders are gone so
windows cannot be resized, minimized or maximized. I am able to switch
between windows from the win
oy it looks like I jumped the gun I just discovered in pidgin tools -> plugins
-> libnotify popups
The configuration for this plugin allows setting what events get notification
bubbles. I will mark this invalid. Sorry for the trouble.

Actually bug #289516 points to Gnome558245 not Gnome574961. However I
put a link in the comments of #289516 to the new Gnome574961 as it
really spawned both Gnome bugs. If #289516 could point to both Gnome
bugs it might be ideal. I could not point it to a second Seahorse bug. I
