Well, I think we are not through with the problems with 865. More often
than not when the box is booting, X won't start and I won't get access
to the VTs when that happens. I can shut it down gracefully by pressing
power button or by using alt-sysRq keys. From another box through SSH I
get to see t

When my xfce4 session finishes, instead of getting back to kdm (I use
kubuntu but my kde is broken right now, so I'm using xfce in the
meantime), I'm welcomed by the VTs

I just updated my box. Removed the xorg.conf and rebooted.
I got to kdm, I was able to see kdm's background, I was able to move
the mouse around... however, there was nothing else displayed from kdm
(just the background), I couldn't use the keyboard (not even the caps
lock led turned on / off), I

Since about 2 days ago I can't get to see a desktop when I start kde.
As a test, I just mved out of my home the .kde and ,kde4 directories
from my home and tried to start kde again. Same thing.
It all looks like it's going to start normally. I get the splash screen,

Some time ago I bought a kingston pen drive that I discovered to be a
generic crap, but at least it worked initially. Now appears that with
the latest kernels it stopped working.

Seems like you have said it all, except for this:
If the application is minimized, a click on the tray icon DOES restore it.. and
then (inmediately) minimizes it again. As least I do see a flash on my desktop
that I'd associate with an application being restored/minimized in a fast
succession.
