After some observation it appears that everything is being reset to
default settings - Snapping Windows gets turned back on, Desktop Size is
reset, etc.

I can confirm this. Using CCSM 0.8.2 on Kubuntu 9.10/KDE 4.3.3, even
just ticking the checkbox to enable Desktop Cube (and disable Desktop
Wall) will simply unset itself in front of my eyes within seconds. This
is incredibly frustrating.

Jonathan, that's demonstrably not true using Kubuntu 8.10. The
increments are not even consistent in spacing, and change depending on
whether you are turning the volume down or up:
100, 95, 90, 86, 81, 76, 72, 67, 62, 58, 53, 48, 44, 39, 34, 30, 25, 20, 16,
11, 6, 2, 0.
0, 4, 9, 13, 18, 23, 27, 3
I'm getting this on KDE 4.1.3 when I try to run ktorrent using a panel
shortcut: "KDEinit could not launch /usr/bin/ktorrent". Strangely,
though, ktorrent *does* start up regardless.

volume in increments of approximately 9%, which is not fine-grained
enough, producing a distinct variation in sound output level between
individual keypresses. The increments should be of 5% or less.
