Hello Pedro,
I solved the problem long ago by manually adding "sisfb" at the end of
the file /etc/modules, found this hint googling around, don't remember
where.
I never tested if the new releases work without this trick.

Ubuntu 9.10 on ACER Aspire 3000 does not detect display
