Please note that when I have the "quiet splash i8042.nomux" at the 2.6.32-28
kernel, before login, the workaround solution works perfect. You can turn it
off and on without problem
So it is something that loads after the login that creates the problem.
P.S. I am a little noob to Linux so excuse
I am going to post the corresponding *.log files for the newer kernel.

Public bug reported:
I use:
lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 10.04.2 LTS
Release:10.04
Until kernel 2.6.32-27-generic, the touchpad was having problem to turn-on
after being turn-off once. It was dead after.
The work-around solution was to add "quiet splash i8042.nomux" instead of
I know that it was signed as "expired", however I have the 10.04 Lucid which is
supposed to have 3 years support.
I hope someone can offer a solution.
I have the latest kernel version as I constantly update the system (although I
do not upgrade to another version).
