Upgraded from Jaunty to Karmic via editing sources.list manually and
running a-g update && upgrade && dist-upgrade. The install failed with
broken dependencies all through the gcc/cpp packages. I did an apt-get

I've been bitten by this bug as well (Intel x3100 on Thinkpad T61), and
the error message Noel pasted was what I saw when trying to run
'pulseaudio -k' too. I took the hint from the error and ran:
sudo adduser pulse-rt

This fixes a completely broken package for feisty amd64. Many python
frameworks depend on psycopg2. Any help is appreciated.
