Some more information:
When the remote windows machine had done an update, it had rebooted. Now
remote logging in from ubuntu, there was an EN to EN mapping, some of the
keys worked as expected but not the ÅÖÄ types. But remote logging when the
windows is already up and running causes more keys to
I ran an update but the problem persists.
My keyboard is Swedish and the language is English in Ubuntu 64bit 11.10
connecting to Windows7 Professional.
When I press (ignore the double quotes below)
"+" produces "`"
"?" produces "_"
"ö" produces "öo"
"-" produces "+"
"_" produces "?"

I had firefox open with 8 tabs on a 2gb AMD64 system which I upgraded to
ubuntu 9.10 (from 9.04) yesterday. Suddenly (the first time I've seen
such a terrible bug in Linux) the screen went kaboom and I was thrown at
the command prompt. However before I could login, X restarted and I
could login aga
i didn't use transmission at all.
so i don't think transmission has something to do with my case.

nothing works. the mouse pointer is frozen and no key or key-combination works.

doh...The partition was FAT32. I changed it to NTFS and the install and
updates went through without any problems at all.

Hi folks,
On my shiny new ubuntu 8.10 installation, I had this error as well on a
Toshiba Satellite laptop SA50-432.
Adding:
options ipw2200 hwcrypto=1 associate=0 debug=0x43fff
to /etc/modprobe.d/ipw2200
fixed it. This file, didn't exist, so I had to create it first.
