I have to say that New Wave is a theme that is almost 2 years old
(version 0.3 is the first public one [1]) and Radiance is based on parts
of it and parts of dust. My design vision is that the panel should be
darker then the rest (or the window's top (menubar+titlebar) should be

You should download the first one (New Wave Pack). Install the gtp
files by double clicking.
The pack also includes a program called New Wave Configurator (it is
.deb file) . With it you can check the version of your installed themes.

This is perfectly normal because this orange tint indicates that the
check box ha the focus. In other themes you would normally have dotted
rectangle but in New Wave the focus indication is smoother.

Well the thing is that the panel cannot be themed via the image {...}
functions but only by the bg_pixmap[NORMAL] and so on variables. That is
a know problem for this engine and if somebody could write image {...}
functions for the panel that would be great. Still notice that Gnome 3

I see that this is the only solution but that will harm a lot of themes
including mine that has created the window border design for one pixel
width. The only winners would be the very generic themes that nobody
wants to use anymore, imo.
I suspect all the new changes will come in Mutter and Gnome

The borders should not be modified in the metacity xml file so that you could
resize properly. We should not change the designers idea of theme and make it
look ugly by making borders from 1px to 5-6px. We could not ask the Average Joe

As a conclusion I have to say that maybe the problem is in Eclipse not
being able to interpret certain values from the gtkrc file.
Lacho: I may help you out make a more compact version of the theme. As
a start have a look a the New Wave Dark menus provided with the theme

below the navigation toolbar.
I think that the problematic apps should fix this issues not Ubuntu by
making alternative versions.
Depending fg on bg color is not possible in FF as far as I know.

I'm the developer of New Wave and I can certainly say Firefox ignores
theme settings. Other dark themes display proper menubar because their
menus are dark with white font. With New Wave only the menubar is like
that and the menus are light. On the other hand if you use the theme New
Wave Dark Menu
I agree but I'm still working on the FF theme. Probably I will be able
to fix all problems like these for the final release of New Wave 0.8.0

I don't know if this is possible but I agree that this would be the perfect
solution.

Nope, it is not possible as these programs use custom widgets that imitate gtk
but not very well thus resulting in serious conflicts sometimes.

Your bookmarks toolbars are dark because they are not intended to be
placed in the menubar but in the area below the addressbar that is
light. I can't create (or at least don't know how) dynamic toolbar that
changes color depending on backgrounds. As for now most ppl use the

identyty notifications as well as the bookmarks organizer. I hope it
will help a lot of ppl to fix their issues with FF.

As noted in bug this is an issue of incorrect theme applying form the
side of FF. I'm currently making a theme that fixes this (still not
final and a lot of work is going to be done to make the theme look
