FWIW, I'm running compiz 0.9.7.4 and the bug continues for me;
ii compiz 1:0.9.7.4-0ubunt OpenGL window and compositing manager
compiz (decor) - Warn: failed to bind pixmap to texture
The program 'gtk-window-decorator' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug

OK, so I copied the modules.* files from /lib/modules/2.6.27-7-generic/
from a good intrepid system, to my laptop, and re-ran update-initramfs,
and I was able to boot...
depmod -a still seg faults - so not sure why...

OK, a further look shows that my initrd.img doesnt have many fs modules
- infact it only has the configfs module?
I've booted into an hardy kernel 2.6.24-16-generic kernel to run "depmod
-a 2.6.27-7-generic" and it segfaults - I guess thats part of the
problem?

Ive just upgraded from Hardy to Intrepid, using the alternate CD locally
mounted, and running /cdrom/cdromupgrade.
The upgrade appeared to complete successfully, however, when the system
rebooted, it fails to boot.
