Same situation here. I have a rather powerful PC: QuadCore 3.2 GHz, 8GB
Ram, Nvidia 1024 MB, 64bit system as well. The range goes from "3 second

Public bug reported:
In Libreoffice Version 3.6.1.2 (Build ID: 360m1(Build:2)) on Ubuntu
12.10 Beta1 with german language enabled when you go to "Options>View"
and then to "icon size and style" you have a dropdown-menu to pick your
icon style and choose between the two themes "Mensch" and "Tango".
Workaround: Install the old global menu plugin via "sudo apt-get install
lo-menubar"

I can confirm the bug on my 11.10 machine with my new Bamboo Pen & Touch
SE. Tablet and mouse, however, work fine on desktop and other programs
so far.
I gave Gimp 2.7.3 a try but it's missing to many features I am used to
til now.
I will try the xorg edgers workaround.
