Can I make a suggestion:
The flashplugin installer package should use a script instead of wget.
The script should dig the proxy setting out of the synaptic preferences
file, set http_proxy, then exec wget $*
The apport-collect program doesn't seem to work - I'm behind a firewall.
I've tried running
apport-cli --package=linux
and that reports
No pending crash reports. Try --help for more information.
which is not surprising because nothing is crashing.
What information does apport-collect gather
I spoke too soon. After 2 weeks of faultless operation, the PC failed to
shut down yesterday (automatic shutdown from cron).

I enabled "Wake-up on LAN" in the BIOS. Now both the alarm clock and the
shutdown are working as expected!
My guess: something in the kernel detects that the machine has started
automagically, misdiagnoses it as a lan wakeup, sees the feature is

I just installed Jaunty (64-bit) on a new machine with a GeForce 9800GT
