will this bug be fixed in 12.10? Because I'm thinking of going back to 12.04- i
have to reopen the files i'm working on very often. This happens on both

on wich system did you test the fixes? Are you using amd64? so maybe i
did something wrong? i just added the ppa to synaptic and did an
update.did i miss something? The update installed several packages,
but nothing changed for me. I also tried to delete the libreoffice
folder in my hom

i'm on amd64 here. Ok, so it'll take some time, until the packages are
ready. Will try it again in a few days.

Problem affected me as well. Hardware is a Dell Inspiron with Radeon HD
6450. Anyway, disabling plymouth in Grub does work for me. So no more
freezes after this, until now.

i can confirm this with an nvidia 4 mx. Not only metacity doesn't
appear, also dropshadows are not drawn and the terminal windows get
empty white boxes. This happens with both normal and extra options in
desktop effects.

trying to switch to tty (CTRL+ALT+F**) i only get blank screens (out of range).
It's not related to #48901 because i have no vga=xxx option in my grub
menu.list. This problem only appears with nvidia driver, nv works without
problems. i think the terminal works (i can acces
