This seems to be intentional behaviour by cron.
It checks if /etc/crontab is either group- or other- writeable, and if
so, skips the file. The comment in the source is: /* Check
to make sure that the crontab is writable only by root */

I'm also running Ubuntu 9.10 and have a similar log, flooded with
pulseaudio errors. It looks like a fix was released for pulseaudio
0.9.14, but I'm now running version 0.9.19, so it doesn't look like it
worked :(
I'll try the workaround from V for Vortex, but would like to see this
re-investigate
1-line change to glade xml file fixes this. Patch attached.

i completely agree with Mat. This issue has been one of my biggest pet
peeves and I don't see why this problem is any more difficult than the
current "high priority" paper cuts. Many of the confirmed paper cuts are
hardly trivial fixes either. Thanks for your time.

i stopped using amarok 2 for about a week, and the problem went away
(used banshee as a replacement).
then i started up amarok 2 again just to see what would happen...about a
day later the symptoms for this bug started again. I'm going to drop
amarok 2 until an update is made :(

I think you should re-open this bug. The original submitter was very clear in
the description of the issue:
1) You insert a CD that is not in MB and get a message stating that fact and
calling the user to action with the prompt to enter the data into MB.
