I again tried to configure this screen in 10.04.1 and still had the same
problems. I resolved it by adding the following lines to
/usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.d/05-evdev.conf

MatchDevicePath "/dev/input/event*"
Driver "evdev"

This is two separate bug reports at the moment. xorg and nvidia are
screwed up, but so are jockey and envyng, which should not be removing
