and found that the brightness keys are only detected with acpi_listen,
which apparently means "this is a bug in the kernel (ubuntu-bug linux)
for not translating the ACPI event to an input event"

Workaround: Run totem and minimize it. You're media keys will then work.
However, hopefully this will be fixed soon. I consider the priority much higher
than low. The media keys are the main reason behind performance to use this
client as opposed to the official one.

Workaround: Install compiz-plugins-extra and compizconfig-settings-
manager. Open ccsm and go to "Extra WM Actions." Map Toggle Fullscreen
to something you will remember and use it to bring a program into
fullscreen with unity (I use SUPER+G)

stopped for me. I do not want to re-enable plymouth because I need a

can you try disabling plymouth (removing splash and quiet from the boot
args)? I need this as a production machine right now and really don't
wanna mess with my (working) configuration.

Oh and sorry I forgot to mention I also removed quiet and splash from my
grub boot settings. I'm not sure which fixed the problem - If you would
like me to add them back in and try testing like that for a while I
would be happy to.

The menu should NOT be accessible. If I were watching a fullscreen
movie, I would not want access to the Unity bar. The same goes for an
office application in fullscreen as well as Java games using the
fullscreen exclusive mode.

That's simply not possible because the computer locks up and you are
forced to kill the computer. However, after installing updates from
update manager manually (which should be automatic...) on Thursday, I
have not experienced the issue. I'll keep you updated on whether or not

Usually (but not always) if I log out of Ubuntu Natty Beta 2, the screen
freezes with about a 1 inch strip of purple at the top of the screen.
Killing x (via ctr+alt+backspace) does the same. Shutting down also has
this problem. In all cases I am forced to kill the system.

I would like to point out that I have a very similar problem, but i
cannot seem to duplicate it effectively. Every once in a while, this
exact same problem occurs where i can no longer type but the mouse
works. I added the workspace switcher to my gnome-panel, and now when
this occurs i switch work
for those of you still using the old nautilus (like myself), the
bookmarks>edit bookmarks option works correctly for both places and the
sidebar (though i have not yet tried rebooting)
