Message "Starting up" and nothing happens for about 30 secs

Binary package hint: grub
When I start lucid lynx with Grub a message "Starting up" apears for
about 30 seconds and nothing happens (no disk activity). I am not sure,
whether Grub is the problem but maybe you could look in the "dmesg" file
and you could direct me to the right
