I can confirm this on Ubuntu 64-bit karmic beta. It also appears to
affect opening files. If I try to open a downloaded file on the
open/save as dialog, such as a torrent, it fails to execute with any
handler I throw at it. Can anyone else confirm this behavior?

I installed the kernel package you posted ( linux-
image-2.6.31-5-generic_2.6.31-5.24_i386.deb ) and to my surprise it
actually booted, detected the wireless card, and worked like a champ
without any kernel panics.

*only* when I have the removable dvd/cd-rom in the modular bay. There's
no floppy drive on the machine and the BIOS hasn't been touched.

I have a Senao NL-2511CD Ext2 Plus 802.11b PCMCIA wireless card running
on a Dell Inspiron 4150.
With kernels newer than 2.6.26-rt, I cannot connect to any wireless access
points (via network-manager or manually with iwconfig). Please note I have a

Another important thing, this seems to be an issue with the introduction of the
2.6.27 kernel.
I can authenticate just fine if I boot with the 2.6.26 or 2.6.25 kernel images.

Unfortunately the BIOS has no option to enable/disable APIC, or to
adjust any IRQ settings for that matter (it is flashed with the latest
BIOS available from Dell for this laptop).
I've booted with the new kernel image and attached is a new screenshot. It
still hangs up on detecting the card.

Here's the new screenshot. the radeon framebuffer automatically sizes
to the maximum resolution it supports, so unfortunately I can't get any
more information on the screen than what is there. If only it would
crash when I change the console output to serial, this would be alot
less tedious :)
