yes, you are correct. I just tried to run "$ sudo apt-get install
nvidia-glx-185" and it wanted to remove xserver-xorg, meaning it still
doesn't work. I have all ati at home, but my work computer has nvidia.

linux-image-2.6.32-8-server. I have tried it on nvidia and ati. I have
also tried it with 'nomodeset'. It doesn't seem to work at all.

I believe this is more important the just "Wishlist". I have no problem
using a terminal, but the average user does. It is ridiculous for a
Ubuntu user to have to search the web just to simply stop the LOUD sound
gdm makes.
Ubuntu has higher standard then that.

image-2.6.32-7-generic. It works fine with linux-
image-2.6.32-6-generic.
