I'm really not sure, but... isn't uhci/ohci required for
low-speed/full-speed devices? Or for USB 1.x devices? (even when

Just a note: USB 1.x has two speeds: low speed and full speed. USB 2.0
adds another one: high speed.

What's more, I think this bug only happens on some types of hardware
(some types of host controller).

Configurations, Interfaces and Endpoints are the basic structures of an USB
device. You can't limit or mess with those things, else the device will simply
not work. As comparison, it is like limiting the number of legs that a horse

USB 2.0 high-speed has a theoretical limit of 480mbit/s.

This is a bug in linux kernel itself, and can happen on any
distribution. I've myself experienced this bug in Gentoo/Linux.
However, this bug appears to happen only in some hardware
configurations. On my old Pentium III 800, Via chipset with on-board USB

I disagree with you, Daniel Gimpelevich. I think this issue also happens
when devices are hot-plugged (i.e., after the boot has been completed).
Could someone else confirm this?

Ok, looks like this update has been finally added to main repository.
Now I can say: problem solved. 2 weeks and half after the issue has been
detected. I don't want to troll here, but just think to yourselves how
many people might have just installed Ubuntu in that time, and found
that flashplayer
But again, why this flash update can't be added to the default repository?
(or it will, but only after a long period of time?)
Without adding any extra repository, I received a firefox update, among
some other packages. Why not flashplayer too?

by himself.

Is the update already commited to the main repository? I have a new

I don't want to be a troll here, but take a look on how Gentoo guys have
fixed this:

Maybe Ubuntu can take a similar approach?

This bug also happens on newly installed machines.
I see Gentoo guys are now downloading a RPM file and unpacking it to get
the required files. See the link to bug report I posted previously. (and
no, Gentoo is not RPM-based)

Yes, I can confirm that. This happens because recently a new flashplayer
version has been released. Gentoo already uses the new version.
