Settings tab through the Budgie Welcome app (From the initial frame of
the app selecting Getting started->Configuration Tab->Settings->Sound

I have created an example. Start totem, go to its preferences and disable the
visual effects. Then go to this page:

the effects continue to work in the plugin.
The effects is always the goom, since the plugin checks the
~/.config/totem/xine
Ah! a typo there. I meant I upgraded from 7.04. :)
Yes and forgot to say that the plugin must be also able to read the
/schemas/apps/totem/visual key.

I can confirm it. Using 8.04 (upgraded from 8.04) and totem-xine.
Although, I think this happens in earlier versions of Ubuntu. I would
like to give some details of what I have found:
The Totem mozilla plugin does not honour the gconf keys that control the
usage of the visual effects when playing
I can confirm it. Trying to extract the attached file, I get the same
behaviour from File-Roller in 8.04.
