Still nothing from apport, but on trying
force_start=1 /etc/init.d/apport start
instead of
force_start=1 /etc/init.d/apport restart (as suggested by

Actually, I wonder if this is an unrelated bug with a similar symptom. I

Hi,
I'm getting what I think is precisely the same problem, twice since
upgrading from Hardy to Intrepid yesterday. Both times JOSM was the
foreground app; this a Java app for editing OpenStreetMap. I've never
had this problem on Hardy.
