upgrades that every few days Ubuntu prompts me to install for the

Hi, I have the same problem on my Ubuntu/Dell XPS 410: generally DVDs
play just fine in auto-play, but if I stop the playing and then try to
'Play Disk' it gives me the "do not have the correct plug-ins to handle
it." Finally, also for me typing "# totem dvd://1" from a a terminal
works flawlessly
