I had exactly the same problem, so I checked the MTU of my wireless
interface and noticed that it was set to 1280.
After issuing
ifconfig mtu 15

Just did
apt-add-repository ppa:mdeslaur/testing
on my xubuntu 12.04 installation. Now after scaling with xrandr the mouse can
be moved again over the whole screen. Thanks a lot for this patch.
I propose it should go into the final 12.04 distribution.

A hint for users who want to upgrade feisty to gutsy and avoid the
problems with the buggy ncpfs from gutsy:
It was already posted that using ncpfs 2.2.6-3 (from feisty) solves this
problem. Before upgrading feisty to gutsy, I created the file
/etc/apt/preferences with the following contents:

Same problem here: Under feisty, ncpfs worked, under gutsy, it does no
longer.
