Upgrade to 5.3.0-52-generic (5.3.0-52.46) last week has fixed the problem
completely.
No more reset messages in dmesg with daily use

I've been getting the same errors burning to a phillips DVD device, and I've
tried the -speed=6 option to growisofs - with a successful burn.
Will try in a while with another burn attempt.

My ipw2200 was working "fine" - with the occasional packet reset, but with some
recent upgrade performance has dropped to non-functional.
It has only since I switched back to a wired network have I realised how
slow the ipw2200 had become.
I'm sitting here with two laptops in front of me -

Oh... really strange..
Left the machine for a while, came back - tried again - and got the same
issue.
Tried to dig in further - so the following activities made the problem
go away ( but I have no idea why )
