I know others have said similar but I don't understand why the automatic
settings only reserve 250Mb for boot drive.
Why not make it 5G then it won't run out of space?
or perhaps 5% of the drive space ?
I will try to boot off a cd key and adjust mine to overcome this
problem.

I don't have this problem anymore.
It didn't happen every time, but I'd say it happened more than 1/2 the time
when I was having the problem.
To make the problem occur I either hit the red power button or just went
System->Quit.

Also i forgot to mention I am using Debian Sid
It may be related to compiz, though I can't be certain as I only used
gnome for about 2 minutes before enabling compiz since that was the
primary reason that I installed gnome was to use compiz with it
