Same problem here on a certified PowerEdge r820 with Ubuntu server
14.04.2, no GUI installed, only CLI.
The framerate is very slow, using commands like 'ls' or 'less' is almost
painful. Adding vesa or mga drivers didn't change a thing. I cannot put
a personalized xorg.conf since xorg-server is not
Thanks for the information, now I'm just curious as to why it was
proposed to me in the update manager in the first place, but I guess
that's not the right place to ask such a question. case closed.

I've found another way to trigger that bug than with screensaver or
suspend/resume (and yes, I do have the bug with screensaver and
suspend/resume ;-) ) :
I've activated the up-right corner in compiz to act as "show desktop".

I just had the same problem (while trying to compile 32bits application
on Ubuntu 9.10 64 bits), created the symlinks in /usr/lib32/ and now
cmake finds it

I started having this problem a few days ago (Intrepid - compiz
enabled).
I coincide with an ubuntu upgrade of firefox and the installation of
extension "split browser".
uninstalling split browser seems to have solved the problem for now.
I'm not certain if I had the problem before the latest up
For info : I have the same bug with radeon mobility X700 : enabling
compiz freezes X (but the movement of the mouse cursor) after a few
minutes/hours (randomly), disabling compiz solve the problem.
I'll try to find the log/debug info and attach them (no promises, Linux
newbie)
