Hi there Jeremy,
I've been running lucid for a few weeks now. The keyboard backlight is
now on, but I still don't get changes when pressing the key combination
that should make the change.
It looks like xev is picking up the keypresses now:

I've been able to re-generate the pdf, so the immediate problem is
resolved. However, there will be many cases where the original tex is
lost and re-generation will be impossible, so I still believe this bug
should still be resolved.
