The updates today look to have fixed this issue. To fix this on your system do
the following:
If you want to use your wireless connection to do the update, restart and press
escape to open the GRUB menu. Ch
I have this same problem. It seems to be related to the package manager
wanting to remove the linux-restricted packages with the new kernel
upgrade, which i did when i updated with aptitude via its suggestions.
My 'eth1' device that was attached to my wireless card is now gone.

Clicked hibernate. Waited for a long while with a single blinking
cursor and nothing else. Have to power off by holding power button for
10 seconds

Annotation: This occured during a previous hibernate and prevented it from
