I had encountered the exact same error first reported in the report when
I bumped up my ram from 2gigs to 4gigs
I am on an Asus Pro31sc running 64bit Jaunty and a BIOS update fixed the
problem for me.

Hi,
Are you on 64bit Ubuntu? Not sure if this will help you but I had issues
playing video (although I never tried playing a dvd) with w32codecs on
64bit ubuntu and switching to w64codecs did the trick.

Hi, could you try firing up MPlayer via media file -> Open with -> MPlayer
Movie Player
1) Then Right click on it and go to the Preferences menu.
2) Go to Video tab and experiment with different drivers on that tab and see if
it fixes the problem
