I assume you're talking about the graphical boot menu when you mean
bootgfx? Also the busybox menu, that is just the shell showing up after
the PC says "/bin/sh/:can't access tty job control turned off", with the
shell identifier (initramfs)?

Well, it doesn't work for me on my desktop.
I send you a link to a screenshot (3.2 Mb) to prove this. Note that it
is packaged in a tar file.
Closely watch the icons on the desktop before and after the custom
application was added. No change at all: no custom icon added for my
