I can confirm that just booting the latest kernel
(3.13.0-031300rc2-generic) is fixing this! Display is in normal

Reproducable, every time when I boot, I experience following:
- BIOS screen
- Screen turns purple (Ubuntu color)
- Screen turns black and backlight off (really black)
- GDM drumroll can be heard.
Simply pressing the hardware key "increase backlight" brings back the
backlight
I have a fresh install of Natty 11.04 (32bit, Dell Studio 1555) and
sudo apt-get install --reinstall bcmwl-kernel-source
SOLVED IT. Thanks all commenter above.
