In gnome-sound-properties when using the Ubuntu sound theme, disabling
one sound-effect (for instance the login-sound), disables all sound-
effects as the theme is switched from Ubuntu to custom and thus the
sound-effect is no longer
Can you please try with the new openafs version available in Intrepid,
1.4.7.dfsg1-6, and post both the build log and module-assistant log file
if it still fails.

Do you mean /usr/locale/bin or /usr/local/bin?
None of the openafs debs should put anything in /usr/local(e). My guess
is that it is something that you either compiled and installed yourself
or got from somewhere else.

so that we will have a working openafs in Intrepid as the current
version does not work with 2.6.27.
I a sync request enough or do I need to request a feature freeze
