With normal "vanilla" Karmic i can´t use Google Earth with Ubuntus own
open source ati-drivers. I think my card is not supported?
When you mean "the lag with opensource ati drivers". Well i can say that
opening and closing windows is not so smooth, it is not a big problem
for me.

I had this bug today when i renamed my internet connection. The network
mananger crashed when i had given my network connection a new name and
