Hello,
I tried to build your plugin under Jaunty but failed. Would you mind packaging
it for your PPA?
Thanks!

Dead on! Your pdftops script works, the resulting file is searchable and has
fonts embeded.
I'm confused, though. The original file is a binary, yours a script.

Under Hardy the build succeeded but installation did fail with a
dependency problem:
dpkg: Vor-Abhängigkeitsproblem betreffend cups-pdf_2.5.0-1ubuntu1_i386.deb,
welches cups-pdf enthält:
cups-pdf hängt (vorher) von cups (>= 1.1.15) ab
dpkg: Fehler beim Bearbeiten von cups-pdf_2.5.0-1ubuntu1_i386
As a result of this behaviour Tracker is no longer able to index the
files and screen readers will likely fail to read the contents as well.
Neither installing the cups-pdf package from 8.10 or 9.10 through a
local repository did improve the situation, PDFs remain only graphic, no
searchable text.
Reliably reproduceable

I can confirm the bug in Hardy as described by vipaca.

I can confirm the bug with Evolution/2.22.3 on Hardy.
Unfortunately, I wasn't able to debug Evolution with the above steps.
