You have to load appleir before usbhid AND applesmc! I didn´t knew that and it took me some time to find that out. Blacklist applesmc and usbhid and add this to your /etc/modules: appleir usbhid applesmc Note: You have to load applesmc at least or it wouldn´t work. (Tested on a santa rosa Macboo
